Our mission team aims to serve our community in a variety of ways. Please read on to see the various ways we aim to love and serve our neighbors here in Dandridge and Jefferson County!
Local Building and Maintenance Projects
Our Community Mission Team takes on local projects for county residents in need of assistance with items such as ramp building, basic home repair projects, landscaping, and more.
In need of assistance? Know a community member in need? You can contact our church office and leave a message for the Community Mission Team.
Community Prayer Boxes
We have beautifully hand-crafted wooden prayer boxes all around our community. These boxes feature a prayer request card, where community members can submit prayer concerns and other needs. These cards can be submitted anonymously or with name and contact information. Submitted cards are picked up regularly by a member of our Community Mission Team and are prayed over by our pastor and our men's and women's prayer groups.
Prayer boxes are located in various places in Jefferson County, including:
- Dandridge First United Methodist Church
- Jefferson Family Physicians
- Perkins Restaurant
- Field Of Dreams
- Fee’s Barber Shop
- Owens Restaurant
- DMA Store
- DMA food Pantry
- Jefferson Park Assisted Living
- Habitat For Humanity
Blessing Box
Our church is committed to helping solve hunger in our own community. We have a hand-built blessing box located at our Main Street Building (located beside the Downtown Dandridge Subway and across from our church fellowship hall entrance), filled regularly with dry foods, such as cans, beans, rice, and boxed dinners, and a basket beneath the box for fresh produce.
We welcome our neighbors in Dandridge to stop by and pick up a few items when they are unable to access groceries for their household.
Church members who wish to donate items to the Blessing Box may leave in-date items in the bin in the narthex as they enter the sanctuary or may drop off in-date items to the Blessing Box directly.
Regional Mission Trip
Every 2 years, our youth group partners with the adults of our congregation to go on a regional mission trip. In Summer 2023, the group worked with Project Crossroads in Marion, VA for a 5-day trip, serving on two job sites. Read more about this recent trip here: click here. You can also watch our recap video here: click here.
Past trips have included locations in: South Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, and Sneedville TN.
Wednesday Night Meals
Every Wednesday afternoon, our New Hope Kitchen is bustling with volunteers, who are cooking between 45-50 meals to deliver to those in need in our community. Primarily, the meals are delivered to the elderly and/or sick, or those with financial need. Members of various small groups and Sunday school classes assist with this important outreach effort, including our New Hope Sunday School Class, various other Sunday school classes, and our United Methodist Women's Group. Volunteers deliver these meals Wednesday evenings, along with a printed devotion.
Know someone who may need to be added to the list? Contact the church office to be connected with the leaders of this food ministry.
