Dandridge First UMC has a Safe Sanctuaries Policy in place.
Safe Sanctuaries is a policy at the local church level that helps minimize the opportunity for abuse to happen in the local congregation and outlines ways to react appropriately and responsibly if incidents occur. This policy exists because we believe, at Dandridge First UMC, that church should be a safe haven, where children and youth are baptized, confirmed, and strengthened in the faith. Children, youth, and parents should feel safe and cared for in our church facilities and with our church family.
We provide annual Safe Sanctuaries training for our volunteers - all church volunteers are invited, but those who specifically serve children and youth should attend. Staff - including ministry staff, nursery staff, and Parents Day Out staff - are required to receive this training. During odd-numbered years, our training is in person; during even-numbered years, training is virtual. Training takes place each fall.
