Hello, church family from the members of DFUMC prayer shawl ministry, Yarns of Love. Such a fitting name for this group, as shawls for women or lap blankets for men are either crocheted or knitted, and then, upon completion, they are prayed over by the group members, asking that their creations bring comfort and remind the recipients they are loved. Pastor Caroline Goddard will bless the shawls/blankets and often deliver them personally, praying with the recipient. The members of Yarns of Love are honored and humbled to carry out this ministry.
Who receives these prayer shawls?
Anyone who has the need for comfort & love, church membership is not a requirement. Many shawls and blankets were given to Doug & Leann Goddard to take to Belize; blankets were given to Pastor Kristen and her family as a welcome to their new church family; blankets have been given to veterans as well as residents of Serenity House; and of course the many given to those in the hospital or at home not feeling well. Being able to reach out and touch that comforting blanket or shawl is a blessing to those who need them. If you know of someone in need of a shawl or blanket please let Sandy Poehler know.
